Contact: Nancy Jackson (213) 978-1960

The Ethics Commission announced that the fundraising window opened today for the regular 2020 Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education (LAUSD) primary election. The primary election for LAUSD’s four odd-numbered districts will take place on March 3, 2020. A general election, if necessary, will be held on November 3, 2020.

Individuals who are interested in becoming candidates for the election may not solicit or receive campaign contributions until after they have filed required paperwork with the Ethics Commission. Campaign contributions are limited by law. For the 2020 elections, the total amount that a single person may contribute to a single LAUSD candidate is $1,200.

A special election to fill the current vacancy in LAUSD District 5 will be held in 2019, and the fundraising window for that election has been open since September 26, 2018. The fundraising window for the regular 2020 City elections opened on September 3, 2018.

Information about candidates and their campaign activity is available on the Election Totals page and through the Public Data Portal. For questions about becoming a candidate, contribution limits, and raising or making contributions, please contact the Ethics Commission.
