The Ethics Commission announced that the fundraising window for the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education (LAUSD) 2019 special election, to fill the vacancy in LAUSD District 5, opened today. The primary election will take place on March 5, 2019. If a general election is necessary, it will take place on May 14, 2019.

Individuals who are interested in becoming candidates in the 2019 special election may not solicit or receive campaign contributions until they have filed required paperwork with the Ethics Commission. In addition, City law imposes per-person campaign contribution limits. For the 2019 LAUSD election, the maximum amount of money that a single person may contribute to a candidate (or that a candidate may solicit or accept) is $1,200 per election.

For questions regarding fundraising windows or contribution limits, please contact the Ethics Commission.
