2020 City Elections And Fundraising Window

Bulletin No. C2020-1

Published: August 28, 2018

In 2020, the seven even-numbered City Council districts will be up for election. On November 6, 2018, City voters will have the opportunity to decide whether the 2020 primary election should be held on March 3 or June 2. The general election, if necessary, will be held on November 3.

The fundraising window for the 2020 primary election will open on Monday, September 3, 2018. Individuals who are interested in running for a City seat may not solicit or receive campaign contributions until the fundraising window opens and they have filed required paperwork with the Ethics Commission. In addition, campaign contributions are limited. For the 2020 elections, a City candidate may not solicit or accept more than $800 per election from a single person.

The Ethics Commission office will be closed on September 3, 2018, in observance of Labor Day, and will reopen on September 4. Candidate paperwork may be filed by email on September 3, as long as the originals are mailed or delivered to the Ethics Commission within 48 hours.

For questions about the special elections, the fundraising window, or the contribution limits, please contact theĀ Ethics Commission.
