2019 LAUSD Elections and Fundraising Window

Bulletin No. L2019-1

Published: August 28, 2018

In 2019, a special election may be held to fill the vacancy in District 5 of the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education (LAUSD). The special primary election may be held on March 5, and the special general election, if necessary, may be held on May 14.

The Los Angeles City Council must approve the 2019 special elections. If it does so, the fundraising window will open upon approval, and an additional notice regarding the fundraising window will be provided.

Individuals who are interested in running for the LAUSD District 5 seat may not solicit or receive campaign contributions until the special elections are approved, the fundraising window opens, and they have filed required paperwork with the Ethics Commission. In addition, campaign contributions are limited. For 2019 elections, an LAUSD candidate will not be permitted to solicit or accept more than $1,200 per election from a single person.

For questions about the special elections, the fundraising window, or the contribution limits, please contact theĀ Ethics Commission.
