EDUCATION > Ethics and Open Government Training for City Officials
City Hall

Individuals who make or participate in making decisions on behalf of the City, also known as City officials, are required by state and City law and Executive Directive 2006-7 to complete two hours of ethics training every two years. The online ethics training satisfies this requirement and will help to deepen understanding of the ethics laws and the public service values those laws support.

You can access the training through the Personnel Department’s Online Training Academy. If you need assistance logging in, please contact the academy administrators at pertraining@lacity.org.

If you are an attorney licensed in the state of California, you may receive two hours of general participatory MCLE credit for completing the training. Your certificate of completion and an MCLE request form are available through the Online Training Academy website. To receive MCLE credit, you must submit the form and your certificate of completion to the Office of the City Attorney, using the contact information provided on the form.

The Ethics Commission is committed to assisting you in complying with the law. If you have questions about the training, please contact us at (213) 978-1960 or ethics.training@lacity.org.
